Frontier Bushcraft is a leading UK-based bushcraft school providing high quality bushcraft courses and wilderness expeditions.

The school is run by Paul Kirtley, who was previously Chief Instructor at Ray Mears' bushcraft school, and is now considered to be amongst the top 3 bushcraft instructors in the UK.

During Frontier's bushcraft courses and wilderness expeditions the emphasis is on you learning techniques and gaining experience of applying them so that you make them your own.

Paul and his team want you to become confident living outdoors and moving through the environments visited.

Frontier Bushcraft have a wide range of courses, with something to offer families, individuals or groups.

Private and Bespoke Courses and Expeditions for groups can be arranged the where the experience and training is designed to meet your specific objectives.

1-day Courses

- Bushcraft Walks: learn about the lay of the land, identify plant and animal life, find wild foods and pick up fundamental bushcraft skills;

- Bushcraft and Survival Foundation Course: Get to grips with the basics in this market-leading 1-day course - fire, shelter, water, food, outdoor safety;

2/3-day Courses

- The Bushcraft Essentials Course and Frontier Bushcraft Taster Course take people several stages further than the 1-day courses with a greater immersion in the outdoors, more skills, more experience and more fun!

5/6-Day Courses

Extending core bushcraft skills from the 2/3 day courses in the Elementary Wilderness Bushcraft Course and introducing more advanced techniques with the Intermediate Wilderness Bushcraft Course and Tracking and Nature Awareness Course.

Duke of Edinburgh's Award

If you are participating in The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, to achieve your Gold Award you need to complete an extra section, known as the Residential.

This involves spending 5 days and 4 nights away from home on a shared activity with people you’ve never met before.
