Ever wanted a canoeing holiday where you get to make your own canoe? BirchCanoes offer a lovely and unique holiday suitable for all the family, a group of friends or individuals . Not only do you get to enjoy canoeing you get to make a canoe and take it home with you.

Canoe Building Holidays

We run courses throughout the year from shorter 3 day courses to 7 night stays. All materials are provided and we have plenty of hands-on assistance and instruction throughout the course.

Our courses are ideally suited for family holidays, a group of friends and couples or individuals looking for a unique and fun holiday with a challenge.

The courses run from our home, a grade 2 listed Victorian railway station with over 2 acres of camping area, workshops, timber stores and landing stages on a lovely river that runs along the edge of the garden. We are located in the heart of the lovely Leicestershire countryside yet we are only 20 minutes from the M1.

Accommodation Available on Site

During the holiday you can stay for free either in our flat, wooden cabin or camping in our riverside garden. All options include hot showers, electricity and kitchen facilities for the cabin and flat. Alternatively there are B&B’s locally. There is also a lovely thatched pub 1 mile away where you can relax and enjoy your evenings after a satisfying and fun day.

Building a Canoe

There is something incredibly satisfying about paddling in a canoe you built yourself. The building of it is great fun too. We have been building canoes since 1993 and our design have been specially developed to make your canoes easy to paddle solo or to have the family on board. The canoes are light enough to be carried alone and can safely travel on a roof rack.

Not only will you get great enjoyment from our canoe building holidays but you will have endless fun enjoying your hand built canoe.
